When Barbara sketches her black & white drawings she tends to use ink to create that special affect for the detailed drawing. Although both ink and watercolours are used when she creates a painting. Barbara specialises in buildings (often old listed ones) churches with a significant history attached, Bridges with interesting stonework and water or riverbanks. Barbara also enjoys painting local seascapes and landscapes. Her work at Otago art is created from her own photographs, or from one given by the customer who holds a special meaning that particular place. This gives them a painting/sketch with personal and special meaning only to them. On the craft side, Barbara can paint flowers onto small ceramic pots and sealing them with clear varnish again she is able to offer a personal touch if someone may have a favorite flower or herb. Cards are also made for all special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings etc. These cards are hand made using ribbons, paper and dried flowers this transforms a normal card in to something extra special.
