Northern Delights is a new food supplier/caterer operating from Fresh Fields Farm Shop in Warrenpoint, Co. Down, where a selection of its products can be found at the deli counter. It is an initiative of Paula O’Hare, originally from Canada. She worked for years in a busy cafe/deli at Toronto’s Harbourfront, a very popular tourist area of the city. Paula has taken her knowledge of the best sellers from the Canadian food business and incorporated it into Northern Delights – a taste of Canada. Northern Delights aims to provide typical and authentic Canadian favourite foods, with some originally French Canadian recipes which have passed through Paula’s French Canadian family for generations. With the rise of popularity of salads among Irish cafes and restaurants, Northern Delights hopes to promote and provide authentic salads and dressings (including genuine Caesar!) There are many flavours to Canadian cuisine, with influences from all over the globe, as Canada is very much a multicultural society. Of course, this will be reflected in Northern Delights’ offerings, with influences from Greece, Italy, France, India, China, West Indies and more! Some of the Irish population may be familiar with typical Canadian and North American fare, like butter tarts, New York style cheesecake, and old fashioned chicken noodle soup.
