About Laura
I graduated from the University of Ulster in June 04 with my Degree in Printed Textile Design. My degree show, revolved around a theme of deconstruction, environmental weathering, and re-using material.
Based on this theme I sought inspiration from inner-city images and architectural silhouettes, to compliment the designs, I printed on a range of recycled fabrics.
Since leaving college, I enrolled on an Invest NI Start a Business Programme, and applied for funding from the Prince’s Trust. With this funding I have been able to set up my own workshop where I can continue my themes and take them to further levels.
I believe recycling in today’s world is no longer an option, but a necessity. I know however, in the fashion market, designs with a conscience are usually not that wearable! So here’s my niche, providing trend informed print designs, with up to date colour palettes, on recycled fabrics and/or organic t-shirts.
Also, because I design, print and hand finish all my pieces from cushions to T-shirts, I am able to offer a bespoke design service, and make it that bit easier to do your bit for the environment. I like to call it Chic Organique!
