William Shaw went around the world alone on a motorcycle in 1987. During the trip he met his wife to be in Kenya.

In 1996 William and Khadija moved onto their building site at 61 Tyrella Road. They lived in a portacabin, now their shop and art gallery, the house, garage and all construction on the site has been done entirely by William. Khadija's art can be viewed in the gallery.
