Timber outdoor children’s play-frames
Want a play-frame fort/ swing set for your children?  In recent years the popularity and price of quality residential playground equipment has risen dramatically.  The need to develop imagination, physical agility, and co-ordination in our children is stronger than ever.

With modern day schedules always on the move, it’s difficult to find time to take kids to the park and we want our children to be close to home.  In general, there is no need for planning permission for play equipment in a UK domestic garden so long as you comply with the following guidelines, and you give no-one cause to complain.

A Playhouse in the Front Garden Planning permission is required for any structure in the front garden.  Play Equipment in the Back Garden In the rear garden, any structure that is less than 4m (13.2 feet) with a ridge roof that takes up less than half the area of the garden and is 5m (16.5 feet) away from the house does not require planning permission.

Since play sets are temporary structures, playhouses and climbing frames which are higher than this, but which do not give a neighbour cause for complaint is unlikely to be a problem. However, planning restrictions vary from region to region .There may also be special restrictions for your property that are detailed on your deeds.

For home use, play equipment can be built on:

  • Grass
  • Bark Chipping
  • Rubber Chipping
