My name is David Smith, I am a hand bookbinder by training and I have over 30 years experience. My business is run from home so I can offer a small scale but highly specialised service. I know all my clients personally and endeavour to meet each clients' needs on a one-to-one basis.

I take a great personal pride in my skill and always get a sense of achievement on seeing a book beautifully bound. In restoring an antiquarian binding I feel that I am contributing to all those who have had contact with the book over the centuries. I always endeavour to repair books sympathetically and preserve where possible.

Because I specialise in hand binding my service is highly personalised. It may take up to 6 hours to bind a book in leather; 2 hours for a cloth binding and repairs can take many hours.
