Binaural Meditation

Binaural meditation is based on the phenomenon of “binaural beats” and has been proven to be a very powerful tool for achieving deep levels of consciousness - the underlying principle of meditation - but in a shorter period of time.

These beats are the result of two different tones, originating in opposite ears simultaneously which creates a third tone experienced by the brain. This new tone is not actually heard in the conventional sense of hearing, but is ‘perceived’ as an audio beat.

When a binaural-beat is applied to the brain, it will change the dominant brainwave pattern from one state to another. In Japan, Zen meditators have been studied and found to alter their Alpha/Theta patterns according to their depth of meditation. These brain-wave patterns have now been associated with certain stages of the meditation process.

Binaural beats have been shown to produce similar results but in a fraction of the time, because they allow the individual to choose the desired state. Results show how a specific state can be entrained, while remaining focused for longer periods, as the attention is less likely to be broken by external distractions.

A problem often encountered with conventional meditation, is that some individuals when presented with ideas and concepts which do not “fit” with their personal religious convictions - lose interest all too quickly. These negative feelings, which oppose the meditator, then create resistance to the process. One of the main advantages of binaural meditation is the scientific approach, as attachment to a particular philosophy or belief system is unnecessary.

At Chiana, using our own customised binaural beat CDs, you can learn how to utilise this technology to relax and unwind or expand your deeper levels of consciousness.
