My background is in graphic design and illustration, and for several years, I ran my own design consultancy in Belfast. We offered a complete service – from design through to print-buying – and produced logos, leaflets, brochures and books. Proofreading was part of everyday life.

In the 1990s I decided to follow my passion – words,  literature and books – and studied English Literature at Queen's University Belfast. I graduated with a first class honours degree in 1998, an MA in 2000, and a PhD in 2004.

My own publications include:

'Dorothy Richardson: A Bibliography' in Journal of Modern Literature (Fall 2000)
Review of Jane Spencer’s Aphra Behn’s Afterlife in Times Literary Supplement (July 2001)
'Mary Tighe: A Bibliography' in the online journal CW3 Journal  (Winter 2004)
Review of Harriet Linkin's edition of Tighe's work in Eighteenth Century Ireland (2005)
Entries on Mary Tighe for the online Literary Encyclopedia (2006)

I am currently working on a literary biography of the Anglo-Irish poet Mary Tighe (1772-1810), to be published by Ashgate in 2008.

Professional affiliations:

I also teach Eighteenth-Century Women's Literature part-time at Queen's University Belfast.
